Our Vision

Entrepreneurship that
serves everyone.

We believe that everyone has an equal right to imagine and create the future.

Zebras Unite is a founder-created and founder-led movement. We invite you to join us and co-create and catalyse community, capital, and culture for people building businesses that are better for the world.

Inspired by "Sex & Startups," (published by Jen Brandell and Mara Zepeda), and "Zebras Fix what Unicorns Break," (co-authored with Astrid Scholz and Aniya Williams), more than 200 people came together for the inaugural DazzleCon in 2017 to explore alternatives to the white-male dominated, hockey-stick return expectations of the silicon-valley informed business and funding models for the overwhelming majority of entrepreneurs who don’t fit that mould.

Movements are birthed by passion, and sustained by process, and the resounding message from Dazzlecon and beyond was “we want to grow this, and own this, together.”

And so the movement took form as a co-operative.

Zebras Unite Co-Op was co-founded by our founding members - a total of almost thirty organisations that were living the zebra ethos before it ever had a name, who believed so strongly in this collective vision that they provided close to $750,000 of in-kind support to take an idea and ground it in a tangible, equitable, scalable reality.

When we talk about “founder-created and founder led”, this is what we mean!

The message is spreading across the world thanks to broad recognition and the leadership of our incredible team. The Japanese government has written Zebras into their national economic policy, founders in Berlin are throwing zebra parties of their own. The zebra methodology is being taught in Melbourne and Mexico City. Employees are writing about the joy of building zebra companies. Law firms are beginning to recognize zebras as an area of law. And zebras are being referenced in pop culture.

And none of this would be possible without you!
